Sintered NdFeB-magnets are a kind of rare earth magnet. Compared to conventional magnets, e.g. AlNiCo or hard ferrites, NdFeB-magnets possess a tenfold power density. The excellent magnetic characteristics of sintered NdFeB-magnets are based on their strong magnetic matrix phase Nd2Fe14B (tetragonal structure) with a very high saturation magnetization Bs (Bs = 1.6 T) and a high magnetic anisotropic field strength Hcj of up to 41 kOe. The current energy product of NdFeB-magnets measures up to 47 MGOe. In the laboratory, an energy product of 55.8 MGOe has already been reached. This achievement has now opened up a whole new range of applications for NdFeB-magnets.
